CREW

Hope for a Future

I was in for a surprise this time around. You see, we've been serving in the Cass Corridor area on a monthly basis for over a year now with the youth group. After a while you get to know some of the people that live there. I met George about a year ago while serving. George had a rough life, drug problems, and lost his home and wife.

Directly

In Old Testament times, people approached God through a priest.  With Christ's victory on the cross, we can now come to him directly as "the priests".  "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness and into his wonderful light." -1 Peter 2:9. -Pastor Mike

5K

I have been in training for over 6 months for competing in a 5K run.  I am not a person who wants to watch from the grandstands, in regards to either my faith or my actions.  "Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.  They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever." -1 Corinthians 9:25. -Pastor Mike

Pray

We should all have a specific time of the day to pray.  Nearly nothing should interupt that time we have to spend with God.  How about an entire day in prayer?  Sounds tough, but it is do-able!  Keep God on your mind, talk to him in all situations, and listen for his voice during all your waking hours.  "Pray continually." -1 Thessalonians 5:17. -Pastor Mike

Fix

Jesus has given us many tools for evangelism.  Speaking, art work, service, teaching, and fellowship are but a few things that we can do to share the Gospel message with friend, family and neighbors.  "Therefore, go and make disciples of all baptising them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit." -Matthew 28:19 -Pastor Mike

Reflection

Do you reflect the world or God's Kingdom?  If you reflect the world, you glamorize sin.  If you reflect God, you glamorize purity.  Seek God wholeheartly so he can take your darkened mind and pour his light into it.  "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. -Isaiah 60:1. -Pastor Mike

Perseverance

Trials will happen in our lives.  They can harden our hearts or soften them. Have a positive outlook when you face difficulties because they are in fact, learning experiences.   "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." -James 1:2. -Pastor Mike

Decisions

Being a parent or a mentor is sooooo hard!  I am both, and sometimes it makes me crazy.  While I would like to make all the decisions for those I "coach", I know that ultimately, I need to teach them HOW to make decisions.  "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." -Proverbs 22:6. -Pastor Mike

Committed

We need to have a committed time with God each day.  This may call for sacrifice in our busy lives.  We need to focus on God in order to be strengthened and equipped each day.  "For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those who hearts are fully committed to him..." -2 Chronicles 16:9a. -Pastor Mike

Near

We all want to come closer to God.  How can we do that?  We need to submit to him, resist the devil, purify our lives, confess our sins and repent, and humble ourselves.   "Come near to God and he will come near to you.  Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded." -James 4:8.  -Pastor Mike
