Jesus is The Way
Recently I was going to a meeting at Henry Ford Village; I immediately thought it was the one at Greenfield Village. Fortunately someone clarified for me that it was the senior living facility on Ford Road. If I had gone where I first planned to go, I would have gone to a nice place but the people I wanted to be with would not have been there.
Jesus said, I am the way and the truth and the life. I want to be with Jesus in this life and in the life to come. So the only way that I can do that is to be in relationship with my Savior and Lord. There simply is no other way to be with someone other than to be with them. Some might say prayer is like a telephone and I can communicate with Him that way. If that is so, I guess a written prayer is a text message. For me prayer is being in the presence of my Lord, it involves speaking and listening, but it is more. It is being in His presence. I remember just before my wife and I got married, she had to work at a summer camp for over two months. We talked on the phone, we wrote letters, but what I most desired was her presence. The way to God is to be in His presence. The way to our Heavenly Father is be in the presence of His Son and in the Spirit.
When my time on earth ends, I want to be in God’s presence. I want the fullness of the Divine love forever. In fact, I have a portion of that now, but I desire more. There is no other way to be in someone’s presence than to be in their presence. There are nice philosophies and groups, but the presence of God is found in His presence. In Jesus’ presence is the Way, is the truth, and there is life eternal.
