Music, Art, Story, Dance, Inflatable Bouncers, Petting Farm, Pony Rides, and Food!

SonSounds 2008 is a free, intergenerational, indoor and outdoor Christian music festival that is open to the general public. This 6th, consecutive year event, will be held on Saturday, August 9th from 3-9 PM. A hymn fest will open the show from 3-4 PM in the Sanctuary of FPC, with musical accompanied by Ann Arbor organist/pianist Dr. Timothy Huth. From 4-9 PM, the huge, outdoor “Showmobile” lighted stage (14 x 36 feet), filled with professional sound equipment and tended by two sound technicians, will host a number of bands, a dance troupe, and even a children’s story teller.

Located on the shaded grounds of the First Presbyterian Church of Dearborn (SW Michigan), as well as within the beautiful Sanctuary, the free music festival will boast a $5 full-course chicken dinner, as well as festival type snacks available for $1-$2. Three inflatable bouncers, a petting zoo, pony rides, and an art tent will all be available with an arm-band for one low price of $5. All festival events will be located within eye-shot of the stage, a big plus for parents who will be bringing small children. Why drive half-way across the state to another festival with gas prices as high as they are? Stay local, forget the cost of a hotel room, and join us where a family of four can dine on a gourmet meal and keep the children safely entertained for hours, all for $30 or so!

Christian Folk music will be performed individually by the talented William Reynolds of Wyandotte and Rachanee of Lansing. Contemporary praise music will flow from the multi-member FPC New Harvest Praise Band. Mexican dancers in authentic, colorful costumes from SW Detroit will spin, clap, and tap, showing off dances from south of the border. Julia Casey, the talented Dearborn story teller/puppeteer, will round out the entertainment on the out-door stage, mystifying youth and adults with her intriguing stories. All performers will be donating their God-given talents so that all proceeds raised will go directly to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, a Christian organization that assists in disasters similar to the Red Cross. This will truly be a day to remember and will be held regardless of the weather, utilizing the huge, indoor multi-purpose facilities if the weather is inclement.

Please plan on joining us, along with your family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors for a wonderful day of inspiration and enjoyment.
