Prayers & Squares
Woven Together Through Prayer
This September, Prayers and Squares begins its sixth year of reaching out through prayer to those who are experiencing a difficult time. When we display a quilt in the narthex on Sunday, both adults and children alike tie a knot, joining the quilt layers together, as they pray for God to bring healing and comfort to the recipient.
In addition, we have also expanded our outreach to include small prayer quilts for babies upon their baptism. We call ourselves the “quilt squad,” and we refer to our work as a “labor of love.”
We enjoy meeting twice a month for two hours, and are often amazed at how fast the time has passed. This ministry involves not only those who sew, but many others who contribute in other ways such as planning, cutting, ironing, preparing the ties, donating supplies and giving financial support.
As we begin this new season, we encourage anyone to join us from 9:30 am until 11:30 am
on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month in the sewing room. We can guarantee
you will have a job to do and you will know the rewards we experience by contributing
to this ministry. We urge the congregation to let us know of anyone we might
contact to receive a prayer quilt.
